1. Keepsake Craft- Handprint/Footprint Art:

This adorable craft is a timeless way to capture your baby’s tiny details. Whether it’s a DIY handprint or footprint art piece, a custom photo album documenting your baby’s first milestones, or a heartfelt letter expressing your feelings as a new mom, a personalized keepsake adds a personal touch to your Mother’s Day celebration.

Use non-toxic paint or mess free ink pads and have your baby leave their hand and/or footprint on a piece of cardstock or canvas. You can make it look adorable by turning the prints into flowers, animals, or letters with some markers and creativity. Frame it and hang it up in your home!  You can even do one every year to capture your child’s growth. Or, keep them all in a scrapbook or album instead of framing them. 4. Enjoy a Meaningful Family Activity:

Create lasting memories with your little one by engaging in a meaningful family activity that celebrates the bond between mother and child. The most special first Mother’s day could just look like bonding as a family outdoors in the fresh air. Take a stroll in your neighborhood or through your local park with your baby. The fresh air will be invigorating, and the scenery will be a nice change of pace. You could also Pack a picnic basket for a relaxing picnic lunch outdoors in your backyard. Not ideal weather for a picnic? Move the picnic indoors to your living room for a cozy family lunch or a snuggly family movie night cuddled up on the couch!

If you feel like venturing outside the house, try visiting a local farm to see cute baby animals. A farm near me hosted a Baby Animal Day to celebrate Mother’s day. It was held the day before Mother’s Day and was so cute! I loved it and so did my baby. There are usually also flower festivals and strawberry picking around this time of year, so definitely see what’s available in your area. A good place to check for these kinds of events is Facebook or a quick Google search.

Whether it’s a nature walk, a picnic in the yard, or a cozy movie night cuddled up on the couch, spending quality time together is what Mother’s Day is all about. Let your creativity shine and tailor the activity to suit your family’s preferences and interests.

5. Capture Moments with a Professional Photoshoot:

6. Mommy and Me at Home Photo Shoot

You don’t have to use a professional photographer to capture stunning photos of you and your beautiful baby. You can create a First Mother’s day photo shoot at home with just a few items. Use an actual camera if you have one to capture the highest quality photos. This is the camera I have. It’s easy to use and takes gorgeous photos! If you don’t have a camera, no worries, you can still take amazing photos with your phone. You can either ask dad or someone else to take the photos, or use a tripod that comes with a remote trigger. The tripod option is better if you want more control over the photos. Also, invest in some cute photo props like a spring background and/or real or fake potted flowers. I love a good outdoor photo session but you can have one indoors as well. A background stand also makes hanging a background up easy for infoor use. Matching outfits with your baby is also adorable! And yes, you can do this even as a boy mom. Check out these matching shirts my son and I wore on our first Mother’s Day.

Hosting also allows you to choose the time thay works best for YOU and you get to be in the comfort of your own home; making naptime, nursing, and pumping much easier!

8. Write a Letter to Your Future Self:

Take a moment to reflect on your journey as a new mom by writing a letter to your future self. Express your hopes, dreams, and aspirations for both yourself and your little one. Seal the letter in an envelope and tuck it away in a safe place to be opened on a future Mother’s Day. You could also start a Mother’s day journal instead, and write your reflections each year.  It serves as a beautiful reminder of how far you’ve come and the unconditional love that continues to grow each day.

Even better, show this to dad and have him do it (haha) and have him write a message to you from baby’s point of view.
